Make a QR code for your Discord server
This Discord QR code generator turns a server invite link into a code people scan to join your server from their phone. Use it on event posters, stream overlays, club notice boards and merch inserts.
The code itself never expires. The invite inside it can: Discord shows a 7 day invite link by default. So the invite settings below matter more than the code.
Create an invite that lasts as long as the print
- Open Create Invite: hover over a channel and choose Create Invite. You need permission to create invites in that server.
- Edit the invite link: choose Edit invite link to set how long the link stays valid and how many times it can be used.
- Remove the use limit: set Max number of uses to No limit for a poster many people will scan.
- Pick the duration: Discord's help says an invite can last as little as 30 minutes, or never expire in a Community server. For a print that stays up, choose the longest your server allows.
- Leave temporary membership off: with Grant temporary membership on, people who join through the invite are removed when they disconnect, unless they get a role.
Copy the invite link and paste it into the field above. A default invite ends in a random code after discord.gg/.
What stops a printed Discord code from working
- The invite expired: scanners see an unknown or expired invite. Check the expiry setting before you print.
- The invite hit its use limit: a capped invite stops working for the next person in line.
- Someone deleted the invite: Discord's help says a deleted invite can never be remade with the same code, so every code printed with it needs replacing.
- Invites are paused: while a server's invites are paused, people who open an invite see that invites are paused and cannot join. Turn them back on in Server Settings, Invites.
- The custom link lapsed: a Custom Invite Link needs Level 3 Server Boosting, and Discord removes it 30 days after the boosts run out.
Custom invite links and small prints
A server at Level 3 Server Boosting can set a Custom Invite Link: discord.gg/ followed by a name you choose instead of a random code. It reads well printed under the code, and a short link makes a QR code with fewer, larger squares, which helps on stickers and badges.
When a dynamic code is worth it
A static code holds 1 invite link. That suits a Community server with an invite set never to expire. A dynamic code is worth it when the invite may change after printing:
- Invites with an end date: when your server cannot set an invite that never expires, repoint the code at a fresh invite instead of reprinting.
- A deleted or leaked invite: create a new one and repoint the same printed code.
- Events and seasons: send this season's posters to a new channel or a new server.
- Scan counts: compare scans with new members to see which poster or stream brought people in.
A free QRplify account adds 1 dynamic QR code with 1,000 scans a month, and it never pauses. The static code above needs no account at all.
Where Discord QR codes work best
- Gaming and esports events: the stage screen, table cards and lanyards.
- Streams and videos: an overlay viewers scan from a second device.
- Clubs, classes and study groups: a notice board or the first slide of the term.
- Creators and brands: merch inserts, stickers and packaging for your community server.
How to create it
- Paste the invite link: into the field above.
- Style it: your server's colors and a frame label such as "Scan to join our Discord".
- Download: PNG for overlays and screens, SVG for print at any size.
- Test before you print: scan it with a phone signed out of Discord, and check the invite shows your server's name.

FAQs
Why does my Discord QR code say the invite is invalid?
The code still holds the same link, so the invite changed: it expired, reached its use limit, was deleted, or the server paused invites. Create a new invite and print a new code, or repoint a dynamic one.
How long does a Discord invite last?
Discord shows a 7 day invite by default. You can change how long it lasts and how many uses it allows under Edit invite link, and a Community server can set one that never expires.
Does the QR code itself expire?
No. A static code never expires: it opens the same invite link for as long as the invite works. More in do QR codes expire.
How do I stop people joining from a printed code after an event?
Pause invites in Server Settings, Invites, or delete the invite. Deleting is final: Discord cannot remake that invite code. With a dynamic code, repoint it at your next event instead.
Can I see how many people scanned it?
A scan and a join are 2 separate steps. A dynamic QR code on a free account records the scans: when, where and on what device.
Publish your Discord QR code
Set the invite's expiry and use limit, paste the link above and scan test from a phone signed out of Discord. Export SVG for print, or a PNG for your stream overlay.
